Friday, September 2nd

Job 33:12-18
12 "But I tell you, in this you are not right, for God is greater than man.
13 Why do you complain to him that he answers none of man's words?
14 For God does speak—now one way, now another— though man may not perceive it.
15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falls on men as they slumber in their beds,
16 he may speak in their ears and terrify them with warnings,
17 to turn man from wrongdoing and keep him from pride,
18 to preserve his soul from the pit, his life from perishing by the sword.

I think that sometimes we do this, me especially, I really can’t speak for anyone else, but I think I am better than God. I may not logically think it, but my actions would speak for me. I take on major things without praying, seeking advice, or fasting, and still expect results as if God is supposed to make it happen. What kind of thinking is this? It’s futile.

James 1:22-25
22Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. 23Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror 24and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25But the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it—he will be blessed in what he does.

I am working so hard to do what God’s word says. It is a tough challenge, but one I am up for taking on. The prize is too great to pass up. I look at verses 16 and 17, and I think that God not only tells us things both good and bad, to encourage us as well as keep us from sin. At the same time, I think Satan is right there tempting me in my dreams. Romans 7:21 “So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me.” James then comes in, to battle this, to make the right decision, I have to do what the bible says, not what I want to do, not want Satan wants me to do, but what God wants me to do. I hope this encourages everyone who reads this, but regardless, I am encouraged. I will be in Houston over the weekend, but will still be having my QTs. I was standing next to you when you heard the terrible news. Did you sense Me? I want you to know that I saw every face. I knew every name - though not all know Me. Some met Me for the first time on the 86th floor. Some sought Me with their very last breath. Some couldn't hear Me calling to them through the smoke and flames; "Come to Me... this way ... take my hand." Some had never heard my voice before. And a few chose, for the final time, to ignore Me. But, I was there. I did not place you in the Tower that day. You may not know why, but I do. However, if you were there in that explosive moment in time, would you have reached for Me? September 11, 2001 was not the end of the journey for you, but someday your journey will end and I will be there for you as well. Seek Me now while I may be found. Anti-Christ Study #1

Daniel 12:1-13
1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, close up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge."
5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How long will it be before these astonishing things are fulfilled?"
7 The man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, lifted his right hand and his left hand toward heaven, and I heard him swear by him who lives forever, saying, "It will be for a time, times and half a time. When the power of the holy people has been finally broken, all these things will be completed."
8 I heard, but I did not understand. So I asked, "My lord, what will the outcome of all this be?"
9 He replied, "Go your way, Daniel, because the words are closed up and sealed until the time of the end. 10 Many will be purified, made spotless and refined, but the wicked will continue to be wicked. None of the wicked will understand, but those who are wise will understand.
11 "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. 12 Blessed is the one who waits for and reaches the end of the 1,335 days.
13 "As for you, go your way till the end. You will rest, and then at the end of the days you will rise to receive your allotted inheritance."

Note from Johnny: The pamphlet I am reading talks about verse 11 only. I “bolded” or highlighted the things that really stood out to me on this scripture. Only the wise will understand. The wicked will not. I think that verse 4 does not separate the wicked from the wise; it just says that “many” will search to increase knowledge. Some numbers to consider: The difference between the first number and the second is 45 days. The second is 3 years and 240 days; the first is 3 years and 195 days. ½ a year is 182 days. Of course, one thing that always comes to my mind is the definition of “day.” So are these days by my definition or God’s?

2 Peter 3:8 but do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.

Abolish (verb)

1. To do away with; annul.


2. To destroy completely.

Abomination (noun)

1. Abhorrence; disgust.


2. A cause of abhorrence or disgust.

Abhorrence (noun) – (I didn’t know what this meant so I looked it up as well)

1. One that is disgusting, loathsome, or repellent.


2. A feeling of repugnance or loathing.

Desolation (noun)

1. The state of being abandoned or forsaken; loneliness


2. Wretchedness; misery


3. Devastation; ruin

Desolate (adj.)

1. Devoid of inhabitants; deserted


2. Barren; lifeless


3. Rendered unfit for habitation or use


4. Dreary; dismal


5. Bereft of friends or hope; sad and forlorn

When you put the definitions into play, it really creates a full picture of the situation. "From the time that the daily sacrifice is abolished and the abomination that causes desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days.” Now, the Johnny version: From the time that the daily sacrifice is completely destroyed and the one that is disgusting that causes devastation and ruin, as well as loss of hope, is set up, there will be 1,290 days. How is that for food for thought?

Job 20:4-7
4 "Surely you know how it has been from of old, ever since man was placed on the earth,
5 that the mirth of the wicked is brief, the joy of the godless lasts but a moment.
6 Though his pride reaches to the heavens and his head touches the clouds,
7 he will perish forever, like his own dung; those who have seen him will say, 'Where is he?'

“He will perish like his own dung.” Now, isn’t that a pretty visual? And then he will not be recognized by those who know him. Pride is SO nasty. Pride can make me feel so strong, so powerful, but is only lasts but a moment. And it will make me perish FOREVER. And forever is a long time, last I looked. This looks like a short QT, but I am also going to be digging on some other things today… very much busy in the word today. I had some thoughts this morning, and last night, as well, so I have to answer the questions in my mind.
