Notes on the First Doctrine of Study

Two Doctrines of Interest: (First Doctrine)

VI. The Church

My thoughts on this, the scriptures are pretty long to say a very simple point, but still well said. Some scriptures I thought that were also good but left out: Ephesians 4:4-6 which talks about one body – which is often referred to as the church in other scriptures. 1st Corinthians 1:10-17 is also good in that it talks about unity in the church. The Matthew 18 scripture talks about sin, but doesn’t really delve back into the unity part of things. It’s about getting resolved about arguments and anger management, but I don’t think people use it so much for unification. Acts 2, you can tell the people are unified, but it doesn’t talk about it. Acts 16 it mentions that the people should obey, which is good, a submissive heart is a good heart, but it doesn’t necessarily mean the heart is there.

Obey (verb):
  • To be obedient. (one of the many examples)

Unity (noun):

  • The state of being one; oneness. (again, many other definitions)

Acts 20, there is an emphasis on the elders and overseers, which I think what was what I was supposed to see, however, I noted the wolves would distort the flock, distort the truth from within and draw the sheep away. The wolves, in a sense, will break up the unity. 1st Corinthians 12 is perfect for unity, however. Another good scripture is Hebrews 13:7-17 where it talks about remembering the leaders, preachers and such. Go talk with them with a humble heart and not yell and scream and fight and be evil, mean, bad and nasty. But still, overall, I agree with this. I didn’t have as much time as I would have liked to study it out, but what I did see, I agreed with.
