A Jealous God: Part I

I am backdating this since I didn't get a chance to post yesterday.Today, I am looking at Jealousy. This is an interesting topic due to the scriptures, mainly since God is a jealous God. And when I find things that make me scratch my head like this question: Why am I supposed to not be jealous when God is a jealous God? If I am supposed to immitate God, wouldn't that make it OK to be jealous? Well... let's see.
Exodus 34:10-14
Then the LORD said: "I am making a covenant with you. Before all your people I will do wonders never before done in any nation in all the world. The people you live among will see how awesome is the work that I, the LORD, will do for you. Obey what I command you today. I will drive out before you the Amorites, Canaanites, Hittites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. Be careful not to make a treaty with those who live in the land where you are going, or they will be a snare among you. Break down their altars, smash their sacred stones and cut down their Asherah poles. Do not worship any other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God."
I don't know if it is wrong of me to pose those questions, but I can't help to be curious on it. At least I am going to the scriptures for my answer, which I would think would be admirable. This isn't by any means a faith breaker for me.
