Goals Update: 2008

Spiritual Goals for 2008
1. Have consistent QTs (over 90%) for 2008
2. Pray consistently with family (again, 90%)
3. Help the church (either communion service, contribution, children's ministry... just need to serve)
4. BE AT CHURCH consistently. Do let excuses pull me down from going.

I know this is only four goals (not a perfect number, biblically speaking...) but these are goals with God in mind. I think the Lord will bless it.

So, how is the progress?

I have realized several things over the past month. First, I need to get back to reading books, spiritual books, or just reading period. I have lost that love over the last couple of years and I think now is a good time to get back in things. So, I am adding a new goal to the list:

5. Read a book a month for the remaining year (7 books)

I also feel this weight loss has got be in the mix as well. I am really going after this thing, and have realized a few mistakes along the way and have made the proper corrections. Adding another goal to the list:

6. Lose weight and get to my goal: 160-170 pounds.

I am going to have to make an adjustment to the graphic to reflect in my change in goal. I have recently read that for a person of my bone structure, it is best to be about 180, but I remember what I looked like at 180 pounds and it would benefit me to be less than that.

In addressing the first four goals, I can not clench 90% on my QTs this year. I do pray consistently with my family, depending on how you look at the numbers. Mack loves praying, and he can only get that heart from learning from me and my wife. So, somewhere we doing right by him in this area. I have to take a step back from helping the church right now, but I will be able to once I get the gears all oiled. That isn't an issue right now. And I am at church consistently. So, those target areas are all OK. I am going to make an amendment to the first goal and simply add to be over 90% the rest of the way out. I feel that is fair and it won't be discouraging every month when I do this update.

I have learned something about losing weight. I have learned that just a proper diet isn't going to be enough. Exercise is essential. I had lost some weight early on in the month, but then climbed up to 220 lbs. I then introduced exercise to the mix and the weight started to drop off of me.

I hope to make up for the weight I was supposed to lose in the next couple of months. These goals for my weight are not going to be amended at this time. Johnny Out.
