Ray's QT - 8/18/05

Good morning brothers,
I am fired up today and excited because it's Thursday, the Son is shining today and I had a great time with God today, God woke me up really early today so I got a lot of time with him today.  I read today in 2 Corinthians 1:3-11... is God not incredible, this is exactly what I needed to read today, vs. 6 "If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer." vs. 7 And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.  Now that is some powerful words.  We share in each other sufferings but we also share we our comfort in God.  I am so grateful for comfort in God, he has really helped me the last couple of days open my eyes to things on my heart.

I want to open up about temptations last night just not making a wise decision to leave off the TV, even though I didn't desire to see anything last night that would temp me, I turned channels and know full well that things will be there that I don't want to see.  Also at midweek last night a sister was wearing a top that made me struggle and to take a 2nd look last night, I want to repent, I do not to want to see MY SISTER IN CHRIST that way.  I made a decision today and took the cable from my TV in my bedroom and threw it away, I want to destroy the temptations!!!

My mom is going in for surgery today; please pray for her and the surgeon.

I love you all,
Ray

2 Corinthians 1:3-11
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.
8We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about the hardships we suffered in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired even of life. 9Indeed, in our hearts we felt the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 10He has delivered us from such a deadly peril, and he will deliver us. On him we have set our hope that he will continue to deliver us, 11as you help us by your prayers. Then many will give thanks on our behalf for the gracious favor granted us in answer to the prayers of many.

I love to see a brother get radical about his sin. It is flat out Jesuslike. If we don't feel like we are in the thick of a battle, and painfully straining for a higher standard, then chances are we have already lost the battle, and that old dog Satan is gaining ground. With the kind of openess and true love for God that you have Ray, you will not only save your self but others. This is inspiring to me, and I would not be doing as well if the people around me weren't showing me the way and making every effort. I want to share a scripture that came to mind:

1 Timothy 4:16
Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Most of us have the correct doctrine, it's the "life" part that takes deep love and work. Keep perservering. Let's get some time together next week as well, catch a flick again, or hang at Sbuck's or something. talk to you later.

Your brotha from anotha motha,

Marc

I think Ray is great, taking on his sinful nature the way Christians should do, however, it does upset me some that sometimes women in the church can wear inapporpriate clothing... I am not sure of what exactly the situation was, if she was wearing tight clothing or revealing clothing or what, but something should be said to her to let her be aware that she is doing that...
