Wow, on that other post, I had August 4nd. What the heck is that? 4nd? I think I may be on to something... Very well. Week is almost over, I can smell it. Rangers win today for the first time in a few, my guy gets a hit, I am up to 3 in a row. Even a blind squirel finds a nut every now and then. So be it. My QT, I just did a little digging, actually I saw this scripture yesterday and it spurned a thought. Here it goes:
Psalm 23:35 "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt! They beat me, but I don't feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?"
Genesis 19:30-35
30 Lot and his two daughters left Zoar and settled in the mountains, for he was afraid to stay in Zoar. He and his two daughters lived in a cave. 31 One day the older daughter said to the younger, "Our father is old, and there is no man around here to lie with us, as is the custom all over the earth. 32 Let's get our father to drink wine and then lie with him and preserve our family line through our father."
33 That night they got their father to drink wine, and the older daughter went in and lay with him. He was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
34 The next day the older daughter said to the younger, "Last night I lay with my father. Let's get him to drink wine again tonight, and you go in and lie with him so we can preserve our family line through our father." 35 So they got their father to drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went and lay with him. Again he was not aware of it when she lay down or when she got up.
So many times I talk to people and they justify their drinking. I only drink "this much." I only drink socially. I only do this and that... blah blah blah. Why test ourselves in this manner? Why play with fire? The mindset on doing something like this is beyond me. Two definitions today.
Excuse (verb)
1. To serve as justification for
2. To free, as from an obligation or duty; exempt
Addiction (noun)
1. Compulsive physiological and psychological need for a habit-forming substance
2. The condition of being habitually or compulsively occupied with or or involved in something
There are a ton of scriptures about drinking and being drunk, and I have yet to see something good come out of it in the bible. If it exists, please let me know. I would definately love to share it with others. I do know the first miracle Jesus performed was making water into wine, but he didn't want to, he said "my time has not yet come," but then proceeded to do it anyway. I guess it was a submissive thing. Good boy. But still, Lot gets his two daughters pregnant. I think there was about 350 scriptures on the search "drink," in the NIV version. Maybe God is trying to tell us something? Johnny Out.
