Reflections from the QTs in Jamaica (Thursday)

Thursday: Topic: Ridicule

Scripture:
Jeremiah 48:25-26
25 Moab's horn is cut off; her arm is broken," declares the LORD.
26 "Make her drunk, for she has defied the LORD. Let Moab wallow in her vomit; let her be an object of ridicule.

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

Numbers 14:23 not one of them will ever see the land I promised on oath to their forefathers. No one who has treated me with contempt will ever see it.

Topic: Humiliation

Scripture:

Nahum 3:5-7
5 "I am against you," declares the LORD Almighty. "I will lift your skirts over your face. I will show the nations your nakedness and the kingdoms your shame. 6 I will pelt you with filth, I will treat you with contempt and make you a spectacle. 7 All who see you will flee from you and say, 'Nineveh is in ruins—who will mourn for her?' Where can I find anyone to comfort you?"

Alrighty now, another two-fer for this one. First, ridicule. (also see Reflections - Wednesday's Post) - God plans to ridicule us who are disobediant.

Jeremiah 48:42-44 (This I had to read...)
42 Moab will be destroyed as a nation because she defied the LORD. 43 Terror and pit and snare await you, O people of Moab," declares the LORD. 44 "Whoever flees from the terror will fall into a pit, whoever climbs out of the pit will be caught in a snare; for I will bring upon Moab the year of her punishment," declares the LORD.

Man alive - I do not want to be on the bad side of God. "the year of her punishment." Wow oh wow Batman. Looks dark for the bad folk. When I read all this, to be honest, I was scared and sad. I was scared for me. I don't want to be on God's bad side. I was sad because I don't want anyone else to be, either.

Onto the next topic. Humiliation. Some scriptures to consider.

Genesis 13:13 Now the men of Sodom were wicked and were sinning greatly against the LORD. (Lucky 13?)

Genesis 19:12-13, 23-24
12 The two men said to Lot, "Do you have anyone else here—sons-in-law, sons or daughters, or anyone else in the city who belongs to you? Get them out of here, 13 because we are going to destroy this place. The outcry to the LORD against its people is so great that he has sent us to destroy it."
23 By the time Lot reached Zoar, the sun had risen over the land. 24 Then the LORD rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the LORD out of the heavens.

Exodus 32:31-34
31 So Moses went back to the LORD and said, "Oh, what a great sin these people have committed! They have made themselves gods of gold. 32 But now, please forgive their sin—but if not, then blot me out of the book you have written."
33 The LORD replied to Moses, "Whoever has sinned against me I will blot out of my book. 34 Now go, lead the people to the place I spoke of, and my angel will go before you. However, when the time comes for me to punish, I will punish them for their sin."

(Pretty much any scripture in Numbers)

Acts 13:9-11 (This is a very good scripture)
9Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, 10"You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? 11Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind, and for a time you will be unable to see the light of the sun."

Humiliation and punishment. Do they go hand in hand? I am not exactly sure myself. However, with the 401 scriptures I found, it would seem so. If God is going to punish me, humiliation seems to come with it. Humiliation and humbling. Sound a lot a like to me. I wanted to list a bunch more scriptures, but then my blog would be WAY big. If you want them, let me know and I can email all of them to you. Johnny Out.
