What is Porneia?

Mark 7:20-23

He went on: "What comes out of a man is what makes him 'unclean.' For from within, out of men's hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man 'unclean.' "

Sexual Immorality - porneia (Pronounced: por-ni'-ah)

• Harlotry (including adultery and incest); figuratively idolatry: - fornication

This is going be an in your face QT that talks about a lot of sexual sin. Just an FYI.

Harlotry is just another way of saying prostitution, or getting money for sex. Prostitution is also devoting one's talent to an unworthy use or cause, which is something I probably knew, but wasn't necessarily aware of... Fornication is sexual intercourse between partners who are not married to each other. That's premarital sex or adultery. Adultery is voluntary sexual intercourse between a married person and a partner other than the lawful spouse. Idolatry is the worship of idols and the worship of images that are not God. Incest is sexual relations between relatives who are forbidden by law to marry, such as, between father and daughter or mother and son.

Porneia is also:

• Illicit sexual intercourse, such as: adultery, fornication, homosexuality, lesbianism, intercourse with animals etc.
• Sexual intercourse with close relatives.
  
• Sexual intercourse with a divorced man or woman.
  
• Metaphorically the worship of idols, such as the defilement of idolatry, as incurred by eating the sacrifices offered to idols.
  

Homosexuality is sex between the same gender, a man having sex with another man, or a woman having sex with another woman. Lesbianism is a woman having sex with another woman. Even having sex with someone who is divorced is porneia, or sexual idolatry. This is my time today. Johnny Out.
