Hating Hatred

Look at this! Two days in a row. Something must be in the water... I am trying to set myself up for success, since I won't be able to get back into the 90 percentile until the 9th of February if I stay consistent from now until then (and that is what I would like to do). I've already started planning the 600th post and I have also planned the next three days from now, so it just makes things easier when I already know what I am doing.
Today, I am looking at HATRED. I don't think I have ever studied out HATRED, so this will be very enlightening.
Proverbs 10:8-13
The wise in heart accept commands, but a chattering fool comes to ruin. The man of integrity walks securely, but he who takes crooked paths will be found out. He who winks maliciously causes grief, and a chattering fool comes to ruin. The mouth of the righteous is a fountain of life, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirs up dissension, but love covers over all wrongs. Wisdom is found on the lips of the discerning, but a rod is for the back of him who lacks judgment.

Proverbs 10:17-19
He who heeds discipline shows the way to life, but whoever ignores correction leads others astray. He who conceals his hatred has lying lips, and whoever spreads slander is a fool. When words are many, sin is not absent, but he who holds his tongue is wise.

Proverbs 15:17-18
Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred. A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.

James 4:4-6
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."

So, what does all this mean? First, what is hatred. I would personally define it as intense anger toward someone or something.
Hatred (noun):
  • The feeling of one who hates; intense dislike or extreme aversion or hostility.
  • Intense animosity or hostility.
  • The emotion of intense dislike; a feeling of dislike so strong that it demands action.

I wasn't far off at all. An intense anger that DEMANDS action. That is a bit scary to think about. But hatred can be a good thing. Do I hate my sinful nature? Are there actions that express my hatred toward my sin? If there are no actions, then I don't hate my sin. It could simply be a dislike toward my sin... and nothing more. What does the Greek and Hebrew say about hatred?

Well, since my e-Sword is down right now, I guess I won't know until I correct the error... I was really interested in seeing what it said. Well, I guess that is it for today then. Johnny Out.
