The Marriage Enrichment Weekend was on the weekend of Feb 16th and 17th, and here are my notes and thoughts of the weekend.
Genesis 5 - created "man", both male and female.
Genesis 2:20 - no one suitable - created eve, a suitable helper.
Helper... also in Pslam 54:4
Ephesians 5:21 (the whole husband/wife section)
Submit to one another out of reverence to Christ
-study out SUBMIT
Marriage roles are not based on talent and merit.
I must become this way. My job is to set an atmosphere and tone in the house so that spirituality THRIVES. Initiate prayer times, family devotionals, etc... even "can we talk" times, so that conversation can thrive.
2nd Corinthians 5:20
Jesus BECAME sin, becoming something he was not. In Marriage, I need to become what I am not, like a leader, conversationalist to my wife... Am I a spiritual leader for me family? How about with my marriage?
The average U.S. couple talks 27 minutes. Guess what, that's a WEEK! The average father talks to his child 9 minutes A WEEK. I will have to say... that is weak. That's got to change. It's all about spiritual atmosphere.
Proverbs 18:21
Do not use the words "ALWAYS" and "NEVER".
GOSSIP AND WORDS HAVE RUN DOWN MORE PEOPLE THAN AUTOMOBILES.
James 1:26
Have a tight reign on tongue.
1st Peter 3:1
Proverbs 18:2
Thinking of a response and not listening? That's *FOOLISH*
No distractive listening (IE: watching TV and listening at the same time)
Proverbs 16:24
It's how you say it that can make a HUGE difference (a gentle answer).
