Psalm 59:9-15
9 O my Strength, I watch for you; you, O God, are my fortress, 10 my loving God. God will go before me and will let me gloat over those who slander me. 11 But do not kill them, O Lord our shield, or my people will forget. In your might make them wander about, and bring them down. 12 For the sins of their mouths, for the words of their lips, let them be caught in their pride. For the curses and lies they utter, 13 consume them in wrath, consume them till they are no more. Then it will be known to the ends of the earth that God rules over Jacob. 14 They return at evening, snarling like dogs, and prowl about the city. 15 They wander about for food and howl if not satisfied.

Verse 11 stood out to me. “Do not kill them,” it says, and I think that is good on so many levels. One, I think that if God were to kill them, the people would forget (as the rest of the verse says). Out of sight, out of mind is how the aged old saying goes. But, another thing that I thought of, and more importantly in my mind, is that it allows those caught in the sin to repent.

Catch (present tense of caught) – (verb):

  1. To capture or seize, especially after a chase.

  2. To take by or as if by trapping or snaring.

  3. To discover or come upon suddenly, unexpectedly, or accidentally.

  4. To become cognizant or aware of suddenly.

So, I guess the scripture could read “…let them be discovered in their pride.” Or found out in their pride… exposed to the public. And by the example of those in sin and not benefiting from the wicked deeds they have done, it will be known that God rules.

Rule (verb):
  1. To exercise control, dominion, or direction over; govern.

  2. To dominate by powerful influence.

  3. To decide or declare authoritatively or judicially; decree

  4. To be in total control or command; exercise supreme authority.

  5. To formulate and issue a decree or decision.

If God rules in my life, I have to answer these questions:
  1. Can God exercise control willingly in my life? In other words, am I going gracefully the way God wants me to go?

  2. Is God the dominate force in my life?

  3. Am I letting God have total control and authority?

God is the ruler of everyone’s life, at one point or another. That cannot ever change. I just think it would be so much better now that he start, and not wait till judgment day, when a less than desirable decision is made. I need to follow God gracefully in his control, rather than kicking and screaming. Following God kicking and screaming is prideful, it is not patiently waiting. That’s all I can think of for now. Good morning brothers how is everyone this morning? I am doing well and fired up to be a disciple of Christ. This weekend was awesome, good food, great friends, great service and many great times with God and my girlfriend reading the word. I love to do that a bunch. I pray that you all had a great weekend. The message at the South service was great, it was about waiting for God. We have to wait patiently for God and not get anxious and try to move ahead of the spirit. We never no when that blessing will come, it could be right aroun the corner, be patient. I know that I am like that with my girlfriend sometimes. I want to marry her and I want get a ring now and get the ball rolling and all that good stuff. But I have to be patient and pray for God to allow it to happen and as the Bible says if it is his will then it will be done. I love all of you and please pray for God to bless my relationship with my girlfriend to go to the next level sometime in the next few months. I love all of and I pray that all of you has a great day today. God bless!!!

Psalm 5:1-3
Give ear to my words, O LORD,
consider my sighing. Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
