OK, so I had something come up yesterday and it spurned some thoughts, and I was just itching to get in the word to search it out. I have these advertisements on this site, and when you click on them, I guess I generate some kind of money (which, by the way, whatever), but what I do like about them is that sometimes it provides some interesting information and other times, I see things that I absolutely do not beleive. Yesterday, one of them said that there is no such thing as hell. That cannot be true, so to back up my thought, Today's QT is going to be focused on that.
First off...
Matthew 5:21-30
21 "You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, 'Do not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.' 22 But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.
23 "Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the altar and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift.
25 "Settle matters quickly with your adversary who is taking you to court. Do it while you are still with him on the way, or he may hand you over to the judge, and the judge may hand you over to the officer, and you may be thrown into prison. 26 I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny.
27 "You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to be thrown into hell. 30 And if your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to lose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell.
This passage uses the word hell 3 times, and it describes that we can go to hell. I could simply stop here, because my point is already made, but I am going to search and dig even deeper.
Matthew 10:26-28
26 "So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27 What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. 28 Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell.
But wait, that's not all, if you act now, you will get these scriptures as well...
Matthew 18:1-9
1 At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?"
2 He called a little child and had him stand among them. 3 And he said: "I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. 4 Therefore, whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
5 "And whoever welcomes a little child like this in my name welcomes me. 6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a large millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.
7 "Woe to the world because of the things that cause people to sin! Such things must come, but woe to the man through whom they come! 8 If your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life maimed or crippled than to have two hands or two feet and be thrown into eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away. It is better for you to enter life with one eye than to have two eyes and be thrown into the fire of hell.
James 3:3-6
3 When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. 4 Or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. 5 Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. 6 The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is itself set on fire by hell.
Goodness, it says our own words can send us to hell. I know sometimes I can be a bit harsh with how I say things, especially around close friends and family. I tend to forget sometimes I can let my gaurd down and shut down the filter on my mouth. Generally, what needs to be said is said, but how I say can be a bit tough to hear. And then there are the times that I kid too much. I have a friend whom I hurt every now and again by taking my kidding too far. I don't mean too, but alas, hurt feelings result. I asked for forgiveness last night and got none. I don't deserve forgiveness, though. I do repent, however. This I see is a definate character flaw on my part. I don't think it is wrong to play around and poke fun, but I need to refrain from making fun of others and just keep it too myself (meaning to just poke fun at myself, which I try to do). If I don't, I cause bitter feelings and discord, both of which are sins, and that brings me back to James 3 (above).
Now, my last scripture that truly clears any doubt of whether there is a hell or not (as if there is any doubt).
2 Peter 2:1-10
1 But there were also false prophets among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you. They will secretly introduce destructive heresies, even denying the sovereign Lord who bought them—bringing swift destruction on themselves. 2 Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute. 3 In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up. Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
4 For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment; 5 if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness, and seven others; 6 if he condemned the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah by burning them to ashes, and made them an example of what is going to happen to the ungodly; 7 and if he rescued Lot, a righteous man, who was distressed by the filthy lives of lawless men 8 (for that righteous man, living among them day after day, was tormented in his righteous soul by the lawless deeds he saw and heard) 9 if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment. 10 This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the sinful nature and despise authority.
Now, all ten scriptures really bring it home, but especially verse 4. God sent the angels to hell. There is a hell, and God uses it. Hell to me is being without God. I want to be with God so much, and to be without is not an option. Not an option. I look forward to my quiet times. It is something that I hunger for right now. Like the moon, there are days where I am dark and don't want to do them, and then there are days like now where I just have to hold back my zeale a little, just so I can get other things done in the day. These are the best kind of days. I like days like these. So, I am sure I am not the only one who waxs and wains like the moon. But, I am very glad I had this quiet time. I like quiet times where I can prove I am right in my knowledge of the bible and not let false teachings pull me away.
Acts 17:11 Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.

Dear Brothers,
Good morning everyone, last night was definately a blessing God is so faithful in answering prayer, I prayed that my neighbors would come with me to our Family Group last night for midweek and they did come. I am so grateful because the women did the "Word" study last night. I am grateful that Claudia wants to come to church on Sunday. Please pray for her husband Tate to want to come too.
I want to get open with just a critical heart I have had the last few days, expecting so much but not willing to look at my own heart and see that I need to do more. I was reading in Philippians 2: 14-16 - 14: Do everything without complaining or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe 16 as you hold (hold on to) the word of life - in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
That is the heart, I am praying for right now for me. I don't want to complain endlessly about my job and about the circumstances. I want to shine like a star, I want become blameless and pure and a child of God.
I love you all and am praying for you all daily, may God bless you all today.

Good morning brothers how is everyone this morning? I am doing well and I am happy to be alive. Thank God for another day of breathe. Last night was fun. I go to hang out with some of the young teens and Jeff and Mike. We played some sports and read some scripture. It was a great lesson on how we need to be set apart from the world and seek friends that are doing what is right and that love God deeply. I pray that all of you has a great day and that everything goes well for you all. I love all of
you and God bless.
Many times men are confused by their own language, in how they define a term. We know that faith comes by hearing the word of God.
Correct?
Now, with this concept in mind, one can be saved by 'the faith' alone. If you believe and obey everything that is in the Word of God, would you not repent and be baptized for the remission of your sins in the name of Jesus Christ? If you believe it all, would you not also follow the example of the enuch in confession and submit to baptism? If you believe it all, will you not submit yourself to the absolute leadership of Christ, and thus the teachings of the Apostles, as we can read of this delegation of power in Acts 1?
Most folks do not have a concept that the scriptures speak of your faith, my faith, and then 'the faith of the gospel of Jesus Christ'. Your faith may only consist of the part where you read 'whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved'; thus it is not a saving faith until you read on and discover that calling on the Lord equals submission to that which the Lord commands.
Another may have truly obeyed the gospel of Christ by repenting and being baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; but may not understand those facts of the church's worship as revealed in the Word of faith.
Just a thought.

1:3 "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein:..."
14:13 "...Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, that they may rest from their labours; and their works do follow them.
16:15 "... Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.
19:9 "Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb...."
20:6 "Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection:..."
22:7 " blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this
book"
22:14 "Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city."
These Seven Great Beatitudes of Revelation truly show us man`s part in God`s plan of salvation. This last book of the Bible, the word of God, should settle it for those of a good and honest heart. It can plainly be seen that the blessings of God are extended to those who do, keep, read, hear, walk, watch. and die in the Lord. Does this mean that man can earn or merit his salvation? NO! but it does show us there is something the sinner must do in order to receive the gift of God`s grace and salvation. Christ died on the cross to save man, and that is God`s way of saving man. But how is man to be blessed with the free gift of the cross? By hearing, reading, keeking, doing, walking, watching. and dying in the Lord. In other words; obeying faithfully until death.
Wow, this is good stuff. It looks as though that we are to stay committed to the end, regardless of what is thrown in our path. Sometimes we respond in such a way to things that really, in the big picture, mean nothing. Sadly, I sometimes react in a poor way, that God would not be pleased. Then I have to repent and have Godly sorrow about what I have done, and that can be so tough, especailly the Godly sorrow part. I just want to be so prideful and blameshift, not taking responsibility for my actions. I guess it is the doing part that can be so tough. Anyway, good stuff. Johnny Out.
I also believe that James has a part to play in it all. In James, it talks about Faith and Deeds. If you have faith, great show me. You say you have faith, Great! I will show you my faith by what I do. Just a thought for your note.
Johnny,
Thanks for the detailed information and the encouragement to search out questions that we have when studying on our own or stimulated by a question or statement.
It is always very rewarding when we search out these types of things to give us deeper roots so we are not swayed by different teachings……..Great job.
I appreciate the study. Jehovah Witnesses claim that there is no eternal punishment for the soul such as hell, indicating that when we die it is like "sleep". They like to trip the uninformed up by stating that the word hell is never found in the Old Testament and rarely in the New Testament. Most of the references that people are used to actually translate the word Hades, which is the abode of the dead (and a very intersting study in itself). People often try to use the story of Lazarus from Luke 16 as an example of hell. Jehovah Witnesses jump all over this, saying (correctly) that this refers to Hades, not hell. However, through knowledge we can rightly divide the Word and be workmen unashamed. The passages you mention are indeed about hell and show that Jesus was a firm believer in hell. Your reference in Matthew 10 is particularly pertinent in this topic - "be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell". This clearly shows that Jesus did believe in the soul and the possibility of its destruction.
"I have a friend whom I hurt every now and again by taking my kidding too far. I don't mean too, but alas, hurt feelings result. I asked for forgiveness last night and got none. I don't deserve forgiveness, though. I do repent, however. "
I did forgive you...Get your facts straight... You probably didn't keep quiet long enough to hear it...
Anyhow, Have a good day mate!
I was certain you didn't but very well, if you did, so be it. I do feel that is pretty harsh with the "keep quiet" part. But alas, it's all good.
That's brilliant, that your neighbors took your invitation to family group. I would have to say as brilliant as the sun. Or should I say SON. Ray, it may be hard for you to see your brilliance at times, but I see it, the men on this email see it, and most importantly God sees it. I too, have a very difficult job, and at times I catch myself complaining and sending up a stench. A scripture that helps me is this:
2 Cor 10:5 ".....and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ."
I don't fully understand how to do this yet, and but I see it more important to be willing to try. God really wants us to have self control, but a life of slavery to sin takes time to change to become slave to Christ. It is a process, and the only thing I can say is that if you make an effort, God will give me what I need to succeed in making my thougts obedient to His Son.
Col 3:23-24 helps me as well. God owns my company, your company and every company that was ever created.
Guys, let's all take some time to really pray with a sincere heart for Ray's friends to find Jesus Christ.

i remember one of my dicipling time when my discipler asked me to fast in the form of talking... to keep my mouth shut unless i have the truth and encouragement to say... it was tough at that time... imagine went to school and keep quiet thru out the day... but as i'm doing it often.. i get used to it...
it has been a while since i graduated and practicing such fasting method... i'm going to do so twice a week... to keep my mouth only to speak the truth and to encourage... so i won't go to that fiery place and burn out...
