So why do I start out with this poem? Guess what? I'm going to get to that, but first, some scripture.
2 Samuel 7:27-29 (David speaking)
27 "O LORD Almighty, God of Israel, you have revealed this to your servant, saying, 'I will build a house for you.' So your servant has found courage to offer you this prayer. 28 O Sovereign LORD, you are God! Your words are trustworthy, and you have promised these good things to your servant. 29 Now be pleased to bless the house of your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight; for you, O Sovereign LORD, have spoken, and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever."
2 Kings 17:13-15;20
13 The LORD warned Israel and Judah through all his prophets and seers: "Turn from your evil ways. Observe my commands and decrees, in accordance with the entire Law that I commanded your fathers to obey and that I delivered to you through my servants the prophets."
14 But they would not listen and were as stiff-necked as their fathers, who did not trust in the LORD their God. 15 They rejected his decrees and the covenant he had made with their fathers and the warnings he had given them. They followed worthless idols and themselves became worthless. They imitated the nations around them although the LORD had ordered them, "Do not do as they do," and they did the things the LORD had forbidden them to do.
20 Therefore the LORD rejected all the people of Israel; he afflicted them and gave them into the hands of plunderers, until he thrust them from his presence.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
Proverbs 11:28 Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
Proverbs 28:26 He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.
Jeremiah 12:5-6
5 "If you have raced with men on foot and they have worn you out, how can you compete with horses? If you stumble in safe country, how will you manage in the thickets by the Jordan?
6 Your brothers, your own family—even they have betrayed you; they have raised a loud cry against you. Do not trust them, though they speak well of you.
Nahum 1:7 The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble. He cares for those who trust in him.
John 14:1 "Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. (Jesus)
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
4Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8Love never fails.
1 John 4:13-16
13 We know that we live in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit. 14 And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent his Son to be the Savior of the world. 15 If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in him and he in God. 16 And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
OK, so I think I now have the whole Bible in here. My original thought is about trust. We trust in man, we then don't trust in God, and there is no love in us and in the end, we are bitten by our lack of love for God and superficial trust in man. Now if we trust in God, we have love because God is love, God will take care of us and keep us safe (it's in the bible). All these scriptures spurned from a little poem about trusting in spell check. How about that. Johnny Out.
